EXCLUSIVE: Vandals wanted after caught on camera trashing local schools

Police suspect a burglary ring could be responsible for school break-ins outside Houston. Exclusive surveillance video showed crooks using crowbars to trash at least four high schools.

At Splendora High School, windows remain boarded up Thursday. A burglar broke into the school early Sunday morning. Video captured shards of glass flying in the area.

Chief Dennis Doerge, with Splendora ISD Police, spoke with Eyewitness News. He asked anyone with information to come forward. The district set up a tip line on their website.

"Give us the information. We want to stop it," said Chief Doerge. "If it is students we'll get them on the right road."

At Tomball High, surveillance footage captured two masked men breaking into the school this past Saturday. Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information in that case. Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS.

At Coldspring-Oakhurst High School, burglars caused almost $30,000 in damage. The break-in happened over Labor Day weekend. In exclusive footage, you can see the men used camping headlights to move about the school. Police Chief Roosevelt Joseph, with the Coldspring-Oakhurst CISD, said it's time someone does the right thing.

Roosevelt told abc13 law enforcement suspect the men have hit up at least 17 schools in the area.

"We will take calls any time, any time of the night," said Chief Roosevelt. "We are pleading with the public because these guys got to be stopped."

Eyewitness News also reached out to New Waverly ISD. The district released footage from a Labor Day break-in at New Waverly High School. Those crooks could be seen smashing into a library window and into a trophy case.

Conroe ISD released the following statement to Eyewitness News:

"Conroe ISD has experienced eight break-ins since January. At this time, Conroe ISD Police do suspect the break-ins are linked. School district police departments along with local law enforcement are working to establish a task force to address this matter. Anyone with information on any of the cases may call 1-888-Kid-Chat."
