An HPD officer has been arrested and charged with prostitution. Melanie Lawson reports.

A Houston Police Department officer has been charged with prostitution and relieved of duty.

HPD says Officer Jermaine Owens has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of an investigation. He was charged yesterday with prostitution.

The officer has been with the force since May 2003 and was assigned to Westside Patrol Division

Court records say he agreed to pay money in exchange for sex.
