SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Authorities say they've confiscated more than 11,000 pieces of jewelry from a San Antonio store after investigators found stolen items in a store safe.

Bexar County sheriff's spokeswoman Rosanne Hughes said Monday the investigation began last month when residents reported stolen jewelry.

Authorities determined the residents used the same cleaning woman and Hughes says stolen items were found in a safe at La Joyeria International jewelry store.

Hughes says the woman is cooperating with investigators and no charges have been filed yet.

Hughes says authorities have recovered about $2 million worth of stolen jewelry but said the investigation continues and they're still trying to determine how many people were involved and how many victimized.

An employee at the store Monday deferred questions to a manager who was not immediately available.
