Racy adult store set to open feet from Chuck E Cheese

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (KTRK) -- Parents are up in arms after learning an adult novelty shop will be opening next door to a busy Chuck E. Cheese Store.

Barbara Jackson says she takes her grandchildren to the family-friendly restaurant in Indianapolis about once a month.

She was shocked when she learned a Hustler Hollywood store would open just feet from the doors of the arcade and pizza joint.

"That's a bad influence," Jackson says. "It's really bad."

Right now, the space is vacant. But in coming months, the store plans on opening its doors.

Surprisingly, neighborhood leader Jonathan Eriksen with the Greater Allisonville Community Council says the shop will also evade classification as an "adult bookstore" by claiming it will sell less than 25 percent adult material.

"We don't know what kind of case we as a community of concerned citizens can possibly have when they're not violating a zoning ordinance," Eriksen says.

Still, Eriksen says he will fight alongside other community members to prevent the store from opening.

Barbara Jackson says she may have to find a new place to take her grandchildren, meantime, to keep them from seeing "lingerie in the windows."
