Suspect appears in court
A suspect allegedly involved in a hit and run crash is also accused in a deadly drunk driving crash

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Baytown man accused of causing a fatal drunk driving accident was back in court today.

Raul Aaron Tadeo had been in jail just days before the crash but was released early.

Tadeo appeared briefly in court today. His bond was set at $50,000.

Tadeo is accused of driving drunk and crashing into a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Cassandra Jimenez, of Baytown.

The accident happened September 3, but it turns out, Tadeo had a 16-day jail sentence for failure to give information to a law enforcement officer. That sentence started August 24, and that should have kept him behind bars on the night of the accident.

We asked prosecutors why Tadeo was out of jail in the first place.

Assistant District Attorney Lauren Clemons said, "He was given 16 days and not, you know, with the jail, I'm not exactly sure how it works, we don't have a lot of control over it, but they do give them sometimes, a couple more days, sometimes two days for one credit, so basically, he was - had completed his sentence and he was released."

Tadeo is scheduled to appear back in court October 13. If he does manage to make bond and get out of jail, he will have to follow some strict rules set by the judge. He would not be permitted to drive a car nor drink alcohol at all.
