HCSO: Man shot, killed by girlfriend's ex in NW Harris Co.

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- It was all over a girl.

That's what a detective in northwest Harris County reveals about a deadly shooting that killed a man outside his girlfriend's house.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the shooting happened around 11:30pm Monday night.

Here's what happened: A detective said the suspect, Austin Huff, drove in from Austin to try and get back with his ex-girfriend.

He came to her home on Dalmally near Spring Cypress Road, and investigators say Hoff attempted to talk the woman into going back with him to Austin.

She refused, and both she and the victim went to enter the residence when Huff attempted to follow them in.

The two men began to argue as the victim tried to push Huff out of the house. That is when the woman's ex allegedly pulled out a gun and shot her new boyfriend in the chest.

Huff was found at his parents' house after running from the scene.

He is now charged with murder.
