Eyewitness video shows police pursuing a suspect driving the wrong way down the Eastex Freeway

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A wrong-way driver kept deputies busy overnight during a chase on the Eastex Freeway.

The driver is accused of leading Humble police in a chase after they refused to stop while driving on the wrong way of the Beltway 8 feeder roads near Wilson Road.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies joined the chase just after 1:30am when it reached the Eastex Freeway.

At one point, the driver got onto the main lanes of the Eastex Freeway. Fortunately, there was no traffic coming towards the vehicle, or it could have ended in a wreck.

Eyewitness video taken by David & Son Wrecker shows the moment the driver drove through the grassy embankment, exiting the freeway near Hopper Road.

The video shows the driver continue the wrong way down the feeder road again, deputies and police still in pursuit.

The driver was finally taken into custody when they hit a dead end on Mohawk near Mock Road.

We do not yet know why police were pursuing the suspects. The good news is there are no injuries reported as a result of this chase.
