Newborn baby girl named after Pearland officer who saved her life

PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- A newborn baby girl in Pearland now shares a name with the police officer who saved her life. The baby's mother was so grateful for the actions of Pearland officer Natisha Lucas, that she decided to name her daughter -- A'Miracle Natisha.

The Pearland Police Department shared the beautiful story on their Facebook page.

Officer N. Lucas was dispatched to the 12000 block Shadow Creek Parkway in regards to a medical call on August 23. When Officer Lucas arrived on scene she was quickly directed to the second floor of the residence where a woman had unexpectedly given birth.

According to the post, "the mother (still in shock) directed Officer Lucas' attention to the newly born baby who was experiencing an unknown medical complication."

Officer Lucas administered first aid, in which the baby started moving and crying. Pearland EMS arrived and treated the mother and baby and transported them to Memorial Hermann for medical evaluation.

Officer Lucas later met with the mother and baby at the hospital and the mother was so grateful, she decided to give the officer a special honor and named the little girl after her.
