HOUSTON (KTRK) --The mother accused of drowning her two kids in the bathtub and hiding their bodies under a neighbor's home had been treated for schizophrenia.
The attorney for Sheborah Thomas says she in a catatonic, almost incoherent, state and has to undergo a mental health evaluation before making her first appearance in court.
Attorney Alvin Nunnery adds that Thomas suffers from depression, schizophrenia and other issues. He says she has prescription but was not taking that medication. She was a patient of Harris County Mental Health, according to Nunnery.
Thomas is charged with two counts of capital murder in the deaths of 7-year-old Araylon and 5-year-old Kayiana.
She was scheduled to be in court today, she did not make it because she is being held for that mental health evaluation at the Harris County Jail.

Thomas is currently in the medical ward being evaluated by the medical professionals at the jail.
Nunnery also says she cannot help in her own defense at this point: "Since she has been in custody she has not slept at all and what has been obvious to me, at a minimum is severe depression."
"She has a previous diagnosis of schizophrenia as well as bipolar disorder and she also currently severely, severely depressed," he added.
Thomas will be evaluated for the next few days and might be back in court next week.
Her immediate family told us by phone that there is misinformation out there about Sheborah, but they did not elaborate and said they're grieving at this time.
"It's been tough. It's a lot," said Kita Thomas-Smith, Kaiyana and Araylon's aunt. She made funeral arrangements on Wednesday for her niece and nephew.
"It's really expensive, so we need all the donations we can get," said Thomas-Smith.
You can make donations to the family at Brookside Funeral home or to the family's GoFundMe campaign.
The funeral will take place on August 27th at Apostolic Tabernacle.
