SABINE COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A family from Sabine County, Texas wants to use their close-call with lightning to warn others.

Kayla Powell shared a video on Facebook that was taken with her home's surveillance camera on Saturday. The video shows the family unpacking groceries from their vehicle when a flash of light knocks down Tim, her husband, with their toddler and young child just steps away.

"It's been crazy, really," Kayla Powell told abc13 about the media attention the couple received after the video went viral. "Phones going crazy, we've turned down face-to-face interviews."

Powell says she shared the video in hopes of raising awareness of the dangers of lightening.

"We just want to make sure the video is used to make people aware of the possible hazards. and to make other families safe. It just happened two days ago, we've pretty much just stayed inside and rested."
