YOUNGTOWN, AZ (KTRK) -- An Arizona teenager accused of stabbing and killing his 3-year-old brother is now in jail facing charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and endangerment.

A grandfather in the family affected didn't provide his name to local station KNXV. He said, "He's one of the most loving kids I've ever known in my life and I don't know if I'll ever understand what happened. But, we also have to be there for him, as well,"

The Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio describes a grisly scene: "The suspect was covered in blood. There (were) also traces of blood on the roadways."

Arpaio says after killing the toddler -- and also injuring another 9-year-old female sibling - the 16-year-old suspect ran from the house.

Arpaio said, "After that foot pursuit, he was tackled by our deputies and placed under arrest."

KNXV reports the girl sibling is expected to be OK.

But now, the toddler named Princeton is being remembered by his family. The grandfather said, "You'll never be the same after this - part of me is missing, part of his mother is missing - everybody, even the other siblings. It's a tragic thing that unfortunately we are involved in."

It is unclear whether the teen will be charged as an adult in his brother's death.
