STAFFORD, TX (KTRK) -- We're hoping to learn new details after a 2-year-old child was found wandering alone in Stafford on Sunday.

Stafford police say the child was found around 8:30am near the Gringo's Restaurant on Highway 59.

His parents came forward around 10pm, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Investigators say the boy had very limited speech, and was unable to tell officers his name or his parents' names.

When he was found, all he had on was a light blue onesie and a diaper.

He was treated at a hospital for a minor injury to his foot, but what is still not known is how long the toddler was wandering alone.

For now, he is being held in foster care.
