Expect delays in NW Harris Co. as 290 closes this weekend

HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- Drivers in northwest Harris County should expect major delays this weekend when Highway 290 will be closed in both directions between FM 529 and Little York for a construction project.

Although the closure only stretches for a few miles, motorists should expect major delays in the area. Drivers on the Beltway will be redirected to the feeder road at the Gessner exit. For drivers not trying to get onto the Beltway, the feeder road is the only way around the closure, barring side roads.

No matter how you plan to detour, it's best to allow extra time as you travel this weekend. The closure will last through 5am Monday.

Motorists looking to drive to Austin should use I-10 as an alternate route.
