EL PASO, TX -- A man has been sentenced to life in prison in the 2014 kidnapping and rape of a 12-year-old girl who was attending an El Paso-area high school football scrimmage.

The El Paso Times reports that a jury on Tuesday sentenced 45-year-old Carlos Antonio Holcombe. The Horizon City man was convicted Monday of aggravated sexual assault of a child, aggravated kidnapping, and indecency with a child involving sexual contact.

The girl, now 14, testified that she encountered Holcombe outside Horizon High School. She said he forced her into his car at gunpoint, took her to his home and sexually assaulted her.
