HOUSTON (KTRK) --An excited new grandpa couldn't wait to show off his new granddaughter.
That baby girl was born on the Fourth of July, and delivered in the car outside the hospital. And he was filming the whole time.
Randy Lazard's daughter went into labor and he rushed her in his car to Memorial Hermann Hospital. But on this Independence Day, the little lady made her way to freedom land in grand fashion.
"She was almost due," Lazard says. "So I had made it all the way here. By time I got here, I ran up to get somebody to get her a wheelchair. When they tried to get the wheelchair, she had the baby in the car."
Our crew just happened to be at Children's Memorial Hermann shooting another story when the whole scene played out right outside of the ER.
"I'm just like wow, I'm running. I'm just recording. Like man this is a miracle," he said.
It's a Fourth of July the Lazards will never forget.
