HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Domino's Pizza delivery driver is in the hospital after being ambushed and shot on in northeast Harris County last night.

Investigators say 44-year old Sergey Ozerov was try just trying to make a living for his family.

He made a delivery to Pines at Woodcreek Apartments on Aldine Westfield at FM 1960 at around 10:30pm Wednesday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the driver was approached by possibly three men, ambushed, shot four times and possibly robbed.

Ozerov was taken into surgery and responded well. Deputies say he's in good condition.

One of the suspects is described as a black man with a medium build, about 5'9'' or taller. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and white shorts.

Resident Monica Jones couldn't believe it.

"When I came through the gate there were police everywhere, yellow tape," she said.

Ozeroz worked at the Domino's that's just around the corner from the apartments. His manager says Ozeroz is his best delivery driver.

Jones says it's a tragedy.

"Especially if somebody is here just trying to make a living -- these kinds of things happen to them, it's so unfortunate," said Jones.

Because of the shooting, that Domino's location is not planning on delivering pizzas after 10pm to apartments in the area. If there is a delivery, the customer must have an order history with the pizza company and meet the driver at the front of the complex.

Domino's is offering a $1,000 reward.
