HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We are learning new details about a deadly crash involving an Aldine ISD school bus in north Houston.

Traffic is still shut down at Lee Road and FM 1960, where a man was killed as a result of the wreck.

Investigators say a man driving a blue pickup truck and a woman in a red SUV were both heading westbound on FM 1960. At some point, the man hit the SUV, lost control of the truck, and smashed into the bus as it was headed to Nimitz High School in the opposite direction.

The collision split the truck in half, sending the front half flying into a nearby ditch. The cab was left, meanwhile, in the roadway.

The man was taken by Life Flight to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but we do not know her condition.

A field of twisted metal and shattered glass litters the roadway where investigators are still on the scene.
