HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- During a Father's Day celebration for first responders, Harris County Precinct 7 Deputy Alden Clopton made his first public appearance since he was ambushed in April.

The event was sponsored by Sanctuary Spa, located on South Shepherd in River Oaks, and featured recording artist Chrisette Michele.

"This was well needed after the 60 days I've been through," Clopton said.

Clopton was shot multiple times during a routine traffic stop. After multiple surgeries and recovery, he was released from the hospital earlier this month.

"It's been a rough road but thanks to my wife, I got through it," Clopton added. He is an 11-year veteran of the force and has five children.

Each father will receive a complimentary facial and massage from the spa. The recipients will also receive VIP access to a meet and greet with Chrisette Michele.
