HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 16 year-old is still in critical condition after he and two friends were shot Monday night during a drive-by at a Sunnyside apartment complex.
Marcus Cherry, 16, is in critical condition at Ben Taub Hospital. The two other men shot, ages 18 and 20, are expected to survive their injuries.
It happened at a Sunnyside apartment at the corner of Barberry Drive and Ferdinand Street.
People living at the apartment complex of Barberry Drive say they heard seven to eight shots just before 10:30pm.
Police say the shooters started firing towards the front porch, where all three victims were sitting.
At least 15 shell casings were collected on scene. At this time, it's unclear why the men were shot.
The shooter or shooters drove away from the scene in a dark colored, four-door sedan. Police don't have a description of the suspects, but say they may have a license plate number.
Police say they're hoping to view surveillance video later today.
"We do see several surveillance cameras here. One at the building which points at incident location, another one which points at where the incident may have started," Horn said.
"When the shooting started, they banged on my door so much," said Tamara Lewis.
The young men were shot on Lewis' front porch. The shooter or shooters took off. Witnesses reported seeing them in a dark colored four-door sedan with tinted windows.
Lewis and another neighbor, Carolyn Holiday, tried to help Cherry by applying pressure to his wound.
"I just spoke in a calm voice," Holiday said.
"It's hard to look at somebody in their eyes when they're dying," Lewis said.
