Teen indicted in April murder of UT-Austin freshman
Meechaiel Criner is accused in the murder of a freshman on the University of Texas-Austin campus.

AUSTIN, TX (KTRK) -- A Travis County jury indicted a teen accused in the murder of a University of Texas freshman back in April.

Meechaiel Criner has been indicted on a capital murder charge.

The sister of the 17-year-old accused of killing UT student Haruka Weiser says she and her brother were part of the CPS system.

According to the indictment, Criner kidnapped, strangled and sexually assaulted Haruka Weiser.

He is not eligible for the death penalty because he's under 18.
