Suspect in Flores' murder goes before judge
Andre Jackson was visibly shaking when he went before a Houston judge on Monday.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Murder defendant Andre Jackson stood before a judge Monday, tearful, while facing details of the case against him in the murder of 11-year-old Josue Flores.

"He's not here," said Josue's sister, Guadalupe Flores. "We're gonna get this done for him."

While Josue's neighbors and loved ones showed their support for his family outside the courthouse, we tracked down the people that have known Jackson over the years, including fellow Marine and Houstonian Monte Johnstone.

"I saw him all the time," said Johnstone. "We stayed in the same barracks and we worked right across the street from each other."

Johnstone describes his time with Jackson at Camp Foster in Japan from 2007-2009, saying he was fun guy who loved life.

Johnstone hadn't talked to him recently, but surveillance video from a north side game room does show what Jackson had been doing lately.

Employees say he hung out there. Still, no one we've talked to yet says they could have ever predicted this, including Johnstone.

"It's mind-boggling for sure, I would have never thought anything like that, never in a million years."

During Monday morning's court appearance, we learned new details about what investigators say happened on May 17, the day Josue was murdered. We learned he was stabbed 20 times. And now, prosecutors say Jackson admitted he was in the video released last week near the scene.

Bond for Jackson is at $100,000.

A veteran who knows the man told only abc13 he's in total shock over the arrest. The man asked abc13 to refer to him only as "J." He says when he learned Andre Timothy Jackson had been charged in the murder of 11-year-old Josue Flores he said, "I couldn't believe it."

Mayor Sylvester Turner and other officials say they have charged Jackson with murder
