MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX --From housing victims of a massive human trafficking ring bust in November 2015 to gearing up for heightened human trafficking incidents during the 2017 Super Bowl in Houston, law enforcement and private agencies are coming together to help the people affected by modern-day slavery in Montgomery County.
The Montgomery County Coalition Against Human Trafficking was forged out of necessity after the November bust that landed four people in jail for allegedly operating brothels as massage parlors in Montgomery and Harris counties. That's when the law enforcement agencies needed a place for the victims found in the brothels to stay.
"That's what sparked the need for a coalition like this to exist in Montgomery County," DA's Special Crimes Bureau Chief Tyler Dunman said. "We needed to better communicate with one another and help each other in eliminating human trafficking in Montgomery County."
