KATY, TX (KTRK) -- When girls set their minds to it, nothing is impossible - even learning how to maintain a vehicle. With the help of Matthew Roayaee and his team at Auto Check Elite in Katy, Girl Scouts got down and dirty learning how to maintain a vehicle and run a shop.

In order to earn their Car Care badge, the girls had multiple tasks to complete. Not only did they learn about maintenance and computerization in vehicles, but they had to get hands on and dirty. They changed the oil in a car, used impact tools to rotate tires, and competed in a flat tire changing contest to see which team of two could change a flat tire quickest. The fast team was 1.55 seconds, not bad for girls who have never changed a tire before.

After the fun in the shop, they had to get down to business - literally. They interviewed a master mechanic and Matthew, the shop owner, and his wife Mina, to find out why they chose their career paths and what it took to get them to where they are now. After the interviews, they worked the front counter as service advisors. As service advisors they learned how to read work orders, estimate repairs, and even check-out a customer.
