HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The funeral for an 11-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in north Houston will be held today.

The funeral will be held at Holy Name Catholic Church at 1917 Cochran. The burial will follow at Historic Hollywood Cemetery on 3506 N. Main.

Photos of proud and happy moments filled the room at La Paz Memorial Funeral Home where loved ones were remembering Josue Flores at his wake on Monday.

"He was really compassionate, really nice, always smiling" said his sister, Guadalupe Flores.

However, fear is the flip side to his family's grief. They know his killer is not yet behind bars, and despite a false arrest last week, they want the community to keep the faith.

"We just have to trust HPD, and forensics, they're doing their job. We just have to help them, be there for them," said Flores.

Josue's classmates planted a tree in his honor, in front of Marshall Middle School.

It holds great meaning for his friend, Angel Nario.

"We see it every time we walk out out of school and every time we walk out we can remember him."
