CARY, NC -- A father is in jail after police answered a 911 call from a townhouse near Cary Towne Center mall and made a bizarre discovery.

According to arrest warrants, officers went to the home on Maynard Summit Way after a 911 hang-up call. When they got there, a 4-year-old answered the door who told them "Mom and Dad are not home."

Police said the boy invited them upstairs where they found two infants in cribs, drug paraphernalia and a marijuana grow operation in a closet.

The father, 28-year-old Anthony Joseph Cottle, is now charged with the manufacture of marijuana and misdemeanor child abuse.

At a court appearance Thursday, his attorney asked that his $25,000 bond be reduced to $5,000, but the judge refused after the prosecutor noted Cottle failed to appear in court four years ago on a theft charge in Georgia.

Cottle's attorney said the children are with their grandmother and are fine.
