HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man who claims to be the father of a unknown girl hurt in a car crash was in a Houston courtroom this morning fighting for her release.

Pedro Morocho says he is Briana's father, and has even taken a DNA test to prove it. Right now, CPS is awaiting the results of that DNA test.

For some unknown reason, the judge in this case reset today's hearing for June 6.

As you can imagine, this is all pretty heartbreaking for not only Morocho, but the 4-year-old girl at the center of this case.

Briana was injured in Sealy last month after a car accident.

CPS officials confirm that a man claiming to the father of a little girl who was hurt in a car crash has come forward.

Investigators say she was with a man who is not a family member, but was alleged to have smuggled Briana into the country.

The man was arrested, and allegedly told police he was taking her to meet relatives. Police say he was paid $200 to bring her into Texas.

Now, Morocho has presented himself as the girl's father.

Briana currently finds herself in a foster home, under the care of CPS.

Another big question in this case is where the girl's mother might be. CPS says they are still trying to track her down, but we don't know yet who she is or where she is right now.
