Woman fleeing wildfire in Canada gives birth to baby girl

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta (KTRK) -- A couple forced to flee a massive wildfire in Canada welcomed a baby girl on their way out of town.

Kennedy Melina Spohr was born last week, just as her mom and dad, Stefan and Fallon Spohr, were told to evacuate Tuesday on her due date.

As the couple drove, Kennedy couldn't wait. Mom was airlifted to a hospital in Edmonton, and dad caught a flight and arrived about an hour later.

Kennedy arrived Wednesday evening.

Dad says mother and daughter are both doing great.

The family is staying with relatives and plans to relocate to British Columbia until they can return to their home.
