Second grader stabbed by man at the playground

DAYTON, OH -- Police are looking for the person who attacked and stabbed a second grade girl while she was playing on the playground.

The stabbing happened at the World of Wonder School in Dayton, Ohio.

Police say a man approached the little girl while she was playing on the swings and plunged a knife into her back.

The girl remains in the hospital in critical condition.

Parents and neighbors were left in disbelief.

"I can't even imagine someone coming on the school ground, just stabbing a kid?" neighbor Cassandra Beamon says. "A second grader? That blows me away."

School officials now say they plan to add more security during recess.
