First up, Marigolds, they not only look pretty but they have a distinct smell that repels mosquitoes. You can place them in containers near a back patio door, deck or balcony.

Next up, Catnip. This ones grow great in full sun and this herb repels mosquitoes nearby. Apply crushed leaves on your skin for more protection.

Lavender is always a favorite! This plant not only keep mosquitoes away, it is also great at battling gnats from attacking your patio.

Basil is a favorite to plant and it's strong smell can beat mosquito invasions!! Since the fragrance is so strong, you don't have to crush the leaves.

Lemongrass is an herb that has a subtle citrus flavor. To help deter mosquitoes, plant lemongrass along walkways and in locations close to seating areas.

And finally, Citronella always works wonders. This one might be hard to find because as soon as it's stocked up-- it sells out quickly.
