HOUSTON (KTRK) -- National Volunteer Month might be wrapping up, but that doesn't mean non-profit organizations no longer need the help. In fact, one gorup dedicated to feeding Houston's littlest residents still needs volunteers for the rest of the year.

Kids' Meals services children ages 5 and younger who live in six Houston-area ZIP codes dealing with extreme poverty. Every week, the group delivers more than 2,500 meals to young children who would not have access to healthy food otherwise.

On Thursday, employees with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas prepared sandwiches and packed lunches for the non-profit.

But the group needs more volunteers to keep its operations flowing smoothly for the rest of the year.
