Police: Man accused of trying to poison girlfriend with fabric softener

READING, PA -- A Berks County man is under arrest after being accused of trying to poison his girlfriend with fabric softener.

Police say Anthony Rivera of Reading forced the product Downy down the woman's throat. But she spit it back out.

Then, police say Rivera forced himself on the victim.

It all started at the woman's home on Saturday night.

Police say Rivera had barged in claiming he was there to kill her.

He is behind bars, facing attempted homicide, aggravated assault and other charges.
