CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- Conroe Police say someone tried to break in to the Conroe Animal Shelter early this morning in an apparent attempt to find the tiger that was found wandering the streets last week.
Police say the suspect was not able to get into where the tiger was being housed.
The tiger was the subject of a hearing on April 26 in Conroe in which the Conroe Police Department was granted temporary custody of the tiger, pending transfer to the International Exotic Animal Sanctuary in Boyd, Texas. The tiger is no longer at the Conroe Animal Shelter and is en route to the sanctuary, according to police.
Authorities say surveillance cameras captured the suspect entering the shelter and trying to get into various sections of the shelter.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the police department at 936-522-3200.
