Gas leak causes traffic nightmare
A gas leak under I-10 at Highway 6 caused big problems on the Katy Freeway Wednesday.

HOUSTON -- There's a big traffic mess on the outbound lanes of the Katy Freeway, where a natural gas line shut down all main lanes for an hour and a half earlier today. The main lanes have re-opened, as have all but one of the lanes of the frontage road.

The leak was underneath I-10 westbound at Highway 6. Even though the roadway has re-opened, traffic remains a mess. The Westpark Tollway is your best alternative. Other possibilities are Memorial or Briar Forest and even the NW Freeway or SW Freeway to Grand Parkway.

We're following this breaking story and will post any new information online. And Rebecca Spera will keep you updated throughout Eyewitness News this afternoon.
