HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Giving Gown Foundation is helping many girls across our area go to prom looking like a princess. More than 6,000 dresses were donated in dozens of vibrant colors and styles.

"We've been doing this for nine years," said Cassie Miller, Dir. of Operations for Giving Gown Foundation. "We also get jewelry (and) shoes."

This year 450 volunteers signed up to help Giving Gown Foundation make wishes come true.

"Absolutely a true Cinderella story," said Micahel Nesvit, president of M.W. Cleaners.

M.W. Cleaners donated 1,800 dresses this year thanks to his many customers who dropped off beautiful dresses for a cause.

"We saw dresses that had tags on them worth $900," he said.

The organization is open to any girl hoping for a beautiful prom dress. They're each assigned a "fairy Godmother" who helps them chose a dress, shoes, and accessories.

"You walk away feeling 10 times better, but not because of the dress but the overall experience," said Ayriela DeLong.

The main cause behind the organization is to go above and beyond to boost every girl's confidence.

"We even have a self-esteem seminar that helps empower her to know she's strong capable and beautiful," said Miller.

DeLong said if it wasn't for this organization she would have had to miss her prom because her mother was not able to afford it.

"It would have been hard to have not to mention that I have college coming up and we still have to pay for that," she said.

If you can't afford a prom dress and need this service, register for the event. But hurry, Saturday is the last day.
