Selena was fatally shot by Yolanda Saldivar, the founder of her fan club, in Corpus Christi on March 31, 1995.
Selena's music career began in 1980 as a member of Selena y Los Dinos, a band she was part of with her siblings. She rose to stardom in the traditionally male-dominated Tejano music industry, and later crossed over into the mainstream.
Saldivar stood trial in Houston for Selena's murder. She was found guilty and is currently serving a life sentence.
In the video below, reporters Steve Campion and Courtney Fischer talk to Cynthia Cisneros about covering the Selena story as it was happening, and the trial here in Houston.
