UBER Final Four
UBER has a big surprise planned for final four this weekend.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you are planning to catch a ride this weekend, here's a big heads up!

UBERs will be in high demand, and you could see so-called "surge pricing".

UBER is encouraging their drivers to head to high-traffic areas, including downtown, the Galleria area and around NRG. UBER representatives say it's hard to predict the periods of surge pricing because it happens in real-time, and depends on fluctuating supply and demand.

However, you do have the option to wait till prices drop.

"So if you really need a ride that second, and demand is really high, you can pay a little bit more and you can get that ride right then. But if you are willing to wait you can also select an option that notifies you when surge goes back down, and you can request a ride then," Sarfraz Maredia of UBER said.

If you use UBER to get to the games, the Yellow Lot at NRG is your dedicated drop-off and pick-up spot.

UBER also has a big surprise planned for final four this weekend.

On Friday, you have the chance to win a 3-point shoot-out with former Houston Rocket, Kenny Smith.

All you have to do is open your UBER app, and click on the "Kenny Smith" button.

"If you are connected to a driver, a car will come and take you to a private gym , we'll have it set up for a three-point contest, just like you see on TV, and we are hoping to make sure as many riders as possible can participate," Maredia said.

Anyone coming to town and using UBER for the first time, can get a free ride up to $20. Just use the promo code "HOUSTON 2016".
