ROSHARON, TX (KTRK) -- Police are making progress searching for the body of another young woman connected to convicted kidnapper William Reece.

Several agencies started digging Tuesday in a privately owned field near Highway 288 South and County Road 51 in Rosharon. They are believed to be searching for Kelli Cox, a young woman who went missing from Denton, Texas, in 1997.

Sky Eye HD flew over the area Wednesday afternoon. Eyewitness News cameras showed K-9 search units assisting police. A creek borders the dig site along with a line of trees several hundred yards long.

The landscape does not appear to have changed in the last 50 years, according to Google Earth imagery.

Reece has been a person of interest in that cold case but was never charged. Meanwhile, investigators are still waiting for the bones found at the other dig site connected to Reece to be tested.

Police believe those remains could belong to Jessica Cain, a 17-year-old who went missing from the La Marque area in 1997.
