Residents on alert after two shootings in Third Ward
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston Police Department were called out on a violent Monday night in 3rd Ward. Two people were gunned down on the same streets just minutes apart.
Police found a woman who had been shot while riding a bicycle on Sampson and Dennis. HPD discovered the woman lying in the road and performed CPR. The victim was transported to the hospital where she later died.
At the same time, police found a male who had been shot multiple times, just two blocks away, on Sampson and Anita.
People who live in this area know the man as 'Chicago'.
"Chicago" who was walking his dog around midnight is expected to recover, however his dog died in a near by vacant lot.
S. Gronyko with HPD said, "The male complainant was shot multiple times. I believe the female on the bicycle was shot once and the dog was shot once as far as we can tell."
Police are not certain but think the victims may have been hit in a series of drive by shootings.
