I wonder if he kept the letter? The one telling him that he wasn't good enough to play Division 1 college baseball.

25-year-old Tyler White has won the Astros first base job. Jon Singleton and A.J. Reed have both been sent down to the minor league camp.

Just a few years ago White got that letter and all the schools in his home state of North Carolina agreed. No scholarship offers from the big time programs. Only an offer to walk on at Western Carolina. White made it through that tryout and played for the Catamounts. He hit .362 in AAA last summer and .366 for the Astros this spring.

All he does is hit. Now he'll get his first shot at the Major Leagues.
