Pickup truck crashes with big rig in NW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A pickup truck driver has died after being involved in a major crash with an 18-wheeler in northwest Houston this morning.

The accident happened earlier this morning on Hempstead Highway inbound at Dacoma.

Investigators have been at the scene since just before 6am.

As the sun rose, it has become clear just how violent an accident occurred. SkyEye HD captured images of the accident. You can see the front end of the pickup completely smashed into the grill of the big rig.

We're told the pickup driver died at the hospital.
