HOUSTON (KTRK) -- For D.M. Allison Gallery, Monday's are usually quiet but Dan Allison has quite a picture to paint, this one with his words.
"He was trying to climb over the fence so I open my big glass door and said what are you doing in my backyard," Allison said.
Three men were actually back there and they rushed the door of his Upper Kirby gallery. He was able to lock it it before they shot through the window. He says they wanted his keys but just as they were leaving the sound of sirens filled the neighborhood and Allison feared he was about to become a hostage.
"I'm in there with these guys and they wanted to have me get closer to them like they were going to have a hostage situation," Allison said. "I said oh no and as fast as they came in I went out twice as fast."
Houston police says the mayhem started with a pharmacy robbery at Sunset and Kirby. The men left with employee wallets, pharmacy medication and drove off in a stolen car. During their getaway, they hit three cars near Kirby and Richmond.
Robert Nguyen was driving one of the vehicles.
"I'm glad I'm ok and they didn't hurt someone else. They could have easily hit a pedestrian," Nguyen said.
Eyewitness Tyler Forystek says he heard a loud bang and saw the car coming.
"She turned her camera around and we saw the driver and passenger run this way," Forystek said.
That's when police say they ran on foot into Allison's neighborhood. He has pictures of police moving in. It was the K-9's that helped police wrap up the scene.
Allison maintained his sense of humor after the chaos.
"They shot two pieces of art, by accident, everybody's a critic right?" he said.
But a typical dark night at the gallery ended with some unforgettable pictures.
Two of the men were arrested on the roof and one in Allison's house, according to HPD.
