Surprise engagement for couple who met in kindergarten

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Nick and Kelsey first met in their kindergarten classroom at Youens Elementary School in Alief ISD. Soon after, they went to different schools from there.

Kindergarten was 1995. About a year ago, Nick ran into Kelsey at a book store on Westheimer in Houston. They hit it off and have been together for a year.

On Friday Nick arranged to come back to that same classroom where they first met to propose to his girlfriend.

Nick made up an excuse that he had car trouble to get Kelsey to pick him up. It worked and she said yes.

The couple who are both educators plan to wed in June.
