TAYLORSVILLE, NC -- Two people have been arrested after they were allegedly caught in the act of trying to dispose of a body near Taylorsville, North Carolina.

The Alexander County Sheriff's Office told WSOC-TV that 51-year-old Toni Hearne of Charlotte and 33-year-old Linsey Marie Lentz of Albemarle are charged with murder and failure to report a death.

Hearne told WSOC that he choked his uncle Robert Adama Hearne Jr. in self defense.

"We brought him up here. I just panicked to hide him. I didn't know what to do," Tony Hearne told WSOC.

The two were caught when Sheriff's deputies and Taylorsville police responded to a suspicious car near N.C. Highway 90 on Wednesday.

Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman said a deputy found Hearne and Lentz stuck in a vehicle behind an abandoned home. Officers tracked a trail from the car to the body.
