HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A police chase in north Harris County ended with a crash involving a college student on his way to a night class.

The chase ended near Aldine Westfield and Hirschfield Road.

Authorities say a mother called the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office worried her 21-year-old son was going to hurt himself. Officers checked his girlfriend's house, and while there, the suspect drove by, clearly displaying a knife.

Deputies followed the suspect, sparking a chase that, at one point, reached speeds up to 110 mph. It ended only after the suspect sideswiped another car carrying a 19-year-old Lone Star Community College student. He escaped with minor injuries.

"I didn't see him until the last moment. I would have tried to get out of the way but he was coming too fast," said Agustin Almanza who ended up missing his Algebra class. "I was just going to school trying to get something better from my future and we have people like this."

The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital for a psychological evaluation. The Harris County District Attorney's office also accepted an evading charge against him.
