Warrant Roundup to begin
If you have warrants, now is the time to take care of them

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- At any given time in Houston, there are around 300,000 active warrants according to the city's municipal courts.

You could be on the list if you've got unpaid traffic tickets, failed to complete a court order, or didn't show up to a court date. The warning today is you'll want to quickly take action.

The Great Texas Warrant Roundup kicks off tomorrow, Saturday March 5th. Judge Barbara Hartle told abc13 time is running out for people with warrants to take care of their business.

"On Saturday, officers are going to have lists of people with warrants and they're going to start knocking on doors. We want people to utilize the time that's left to come out and take care of the situation," said Judge Hartle. "We try to close out cases. That's the point of doing this. I don't want to arrest people. I want them to come in and resolve their cases and not live in fear of being arrested when they're on their way to the rodeo with their famiy."

Judge Hartle told us the municipal courts are open to 10 p.m. tonight and they'll be open tomorrow. She said the best way to see if you have an active warrant for your arrest is call 311. For more information, you can visit their website http://www.houstontx.gov/courts/
