Search for remains continues in SE Houston field (KTRK)

Investigators have not found a shred of evidence after a week of searching a southeast Houston field for the body of Jessica Cain, according to a DPS spokesman with the Texas Rangers.

As heavy equipment churns up dirt in the field on East Orem Drive, people like Stephanie Hardy James are hoping for closure.

"We've all been wondering where she has been," James said.

James brought flowers and a card to the site and hung them on the fence.

"When you're looking for somebody and you don't know where they're at, you think, is she here, or is she there," James said. "I would go by Galveston, Tiki Island, looking for her, go sit at her bench, her memorial."

James is from Anahuac, where the community is coming together in support of the Cain family. They're planning a candlelight vigil Sunday, and a local t-shirt company is designing shirts in Cain's honor.

Deb Gilbert owns We've Gotcha Covered in the Baytown area.

"I know the investigation has resurfaced here lately, and they just wondered if I could do some t-shirts," Gilbert said, "And we started taking orders at four o'clock yesterday afternoon and have been taking orders since two today."

Gilbert said she is not making money on the shirts, that she just wanted to support her community as they hope for answers coming out of the field in southeast Houston.

James hopes for an answer soon.
