HOUSTON (KTRK) --You don't have to spend big bucks to look like a million dollars. Jen Meneely with a blog called www.toocheapblondes.com scours Houston area thrift shops on a weekly basis for designer pieces. She finds many high-end labels like Chanel, Dior and Valentino, just to name a few. Some gowns cost as little as two bucks but never over 60 dollars. Meneely says thrift stores are a fabulous place to find red carpet fashion because many times a gown has been worn once, because a lot of ladies don't want to be seen in the same memorable gown twice.
Some of Meneely favorite shops include Family Thrift Store, Family Thrift Outlet and Goodwill Houston Thrift store. There are some shopping tips to consider when gown shopping at the thrift store says Meneely. She says stay away from prom gowns, bridesmaids dresses and choose a dress that doesn't need too much altering because that can drive the price up.
