New Waverly school catches fire, 16 teens safe

Sixteen teens are safe after a school caught fire in Walker County (KTRK)

Dozens of teens in Walker County escaped a two-alarm fire at a school for disadvantaged students.

The fire broke out at the Gulf Coast Trade Center in New Waverly at a building being used as a dorm.

Half of the building was engulfed, but the 16 teenagers got out safely and no one was injured.

Firefighters are still investigating what started the fire.
