HARRIS COUNTY (KTRK) -- Dozens of concerned residents packed a community town hall meeting Sunday in northeast Harris County, worried about recent robberies targeting children.

Spring ISD has had several reports of children robbed at their bus stops.

"We have individuals who are robbing kids at gunpoint. We've had kids who have been pistol whipped. That's serious," said Spring ISD Police Chief Victor Mitchell.

The school district and the Harris County Sheriff's Office have added extra patrols to bus stops, parks and neighborhoods.

"The best thing is for us all to work together as a community," said parent Patricia Maldonado. "Everybody is just afraid now."

Authorities believe the suspects are between ages 15 and 19.
