HOUSTON (KTRK) --Surveillance video is giving insight into the fatal shooting of a 40-year-old man outside a gas station in north Houston.
Treveon Jones, 18, is accused of murdering Frederick Wallace, who is his mother's common-law husband, early Wednesday morning.
Video shows Carolyn Jones rushing into a Shell gas station with three young kids at 4:59am.
Witnesses say she called police, claiming Wallace was assaulting her.
At 5:30am, Wallace comes back to the gas station, with Jones and her children in the car.
Then, you can see a man pull up in Chevy Tahoe. Two men, one of whom police identify as Treveon Jones, get Carolyn Jones and the young kids out of the vehicle. Then, you can see Jones shoot in the direction of the vehicle that Wallace is driving.
Wallace was found dead in his car, with a bullet in the back right side of his head. At least 18 rounds were fired, and prosecutors say Treveon Jones admitted to police that he shot Wallace.
He is in jail on a $50,000 bond, but it could be reduced.
Earlier Friday, Jones made a court appearance at which his boxing trainer Reggie Johnson showed up at court in support of him.
"It's just, it's hard for me to believe that a kid of this character, uh, in a situation like this," Johnson said.
A judge is expected to rule on the possible bond reduction next Friday.
